Going #Extramile for in-person drop
“It’s never crowded along the Extra Mile”
(Wayen Dyer)
We had a course related to going an extra mile and doing something which is not required but you could do to show your passion for that work. In other words, extra mile is the very last fuel in our bike which we use to travel a mile. Going an extra mile always pays off and always support and helps you in getting the task done effectively.

At Amal academy going an extra mile has a lot of importance and it says that going an extra mile in an interview or for a job application will lead you towards securing a job.

As if there is a vacancy of 1 person for Mechanical Engineer and the company receives 1000 applications then they will recruit a person who has gone an extra mile and show had shown his passion towards the company effectively.
After getting my elevator pitch ready we were assigned to go an extra mile by going for an in-person drop of CV and cover letter. I am not a graduate student so first felt that this activity is not for me, but then I watched a video about procrastination by Tim Urban, it urged me to go for an in-person drop of CV and cover letter. The company I selected was Izhar group of constructions.
I went there at about 11:00 am on Wednesday, I was enough familiar with names of staff as one of my fellow and friend had done an internship at there, so I easily entered the gate and asked the receptionist that I have to meet Mr. Muhammad Imran who was serving as an HR manager of Izhar group for 5 years. He contacted him and told me that he is busy in a meeting and I have to wait for 1 hour as the meeting was supposed to end at break time.
I was sitting in waiting area and after 1 hour and 30 mins Mr. Kamran who was assistant of Mr. Imran meet me he asked me about the purpose of my coming and during introducing, I don’t know what happened to me that I lost the words of my elevator pitch and I forgot to introduce me from elevator pitch.

Anyhow he looked over my CV and cover letter and said: “So, you are not done with a degree yet and you are here for dropping your CV?” I nodded in yes and he said: “But sorry we have no job openings yet!”. I smiled and said, “Ok you can take my CV and cover letter and inform me when you have an opening”.
After this, he took a CV and cover letter and went to his office and I went towards my hostel as I was done with one of the most fearful activities of Project Work.
Takeaways:
The main takeaway was that I have experienced that how to go for an in-person drop, actually I was expecting better than this but in reality everything is different. Moreover, now whenever I’ll go for this activity I will be prepared more effectively and prepare and influencing pitch.
