To know how can I deal with procrastination by Pomodoro technique, I chose work of “finalization of my Mega Project report format” and divided it into 9 small tasks with 5–10 minutes break each in first 4 tasks and then 20 minutes break, and then again 5 task of 30 minutes each with 5–10 minutes break in between. In this report making process, I covered finalization my Mega Project report format and work division for every group member. Details of my work division according to time is as follows:

Task 1st — 30 minutes for explaining Mega Project Idea in details and work done by every member.

Task 2nd — 30 minutes for explaining strategy of our Mega project and report formation.

Task 3rd to 7th — 30 minutes each for explaining every group member’s work. (30x5).

Task 8th and 9th — 60 minutes for preparing example of one field with 10-minute break in between 50 minutes.

I planned to finalize this work up to maximum 6 and half hours. First, I started with 1st step. I did not complete my 1st task in time because of few other unorganized work like finding Imran’s emails and looking for online links of blogs to add in report. Time was ended up when I was adding work of Imran in parts. It takes 10 more minutes to complete and I completed my first task in 40 minutes. Then I took break. In every next task, I tried to finish in time but I finished only two tasks in time (8th and 9th) which were about adding example to better understand work type.

Actually, this was a difficult task to complete my work in time. During each task, I realized how it is important to be concise and specific while explaining things. In first few tasks, I was trying to explain everything in detail and then I realized that it will take more time and it will be better if I add things to be searched by other team members by their own. For example, first I was trying to add some online resources for collection of data for each group member then I realized that instead of adding resources I should tell members about technique of how to find good resources and how I am finding best resources for collection of authentic data. This technique took my less time and moreover it would help other members to learn and work effectively by their own. In whole process, there were less directions because I was working in night.

It was a good activity and I learned many smart things by this activity. I learned how to involve other in work by just telling them how I am doing and in the same way you can do, instead of adding everything for them. In short, it realized me how to use time, things and resources effectively when we have less time. I have applied this technique for preparation of job assessment tests, in these tests we have limited time so I used to practice this technique to prepare quantitative and analytical portion of test. I’ll try to apply same technique in other tasks like while studying and while completing other daily routine tasks.

I completed my whole work in approximately 7 hours (the whole night), the main reason of delay was that my material and data was not well organized.
