In Person Drop is very effective technique for showing passion to recruiter, by this technique there are high chances that we will be invited for interview. Most of time we invited for interview if our elevator pitch is relevant and effective, our cover letter is written after research about company or organization, and it also depend on how we make first impression and make our conversation interesting. I have tried this technique of In Person Drop. I called to my friend who is working as lecturer in University of Faisalabad. I collected all necessary information about HOD, HR, HOD Interest area, rules and study environment of university. I was thinking that I should meet with HOD instead of HR person and my friend also confirmed me that I should meet HOD.

I prepared my elevator pitch, CL and resume, I went to UOF campus and met with my friend and had some discussion on how should I complete this task efficiently.

HOD interest area and specialization was totally different from my specialization, so there was a good chance that HOD will not interview me in detail. I entered HOD room and Introduced me with my elevator pitch and told him about the purpose of my visit. I had around 10-minute discussion on my degree, my qualification, my residence, on my thesis and my supervisor.

It was a good experience at all. I learned that it is good technique and to make it practical we need to prepare ourselves before time of interview. The main challenges for me was reaching to the HOD, but it was solved by my friend. I think if we have no link in the organization then it would be somehow difficult to reach to the HOD or Manager of your concerned department. So, in that case we should meet with HR person. In university, normally we should meet with HOD of our concerned department and with HR person, because HOD is the person who will interview you and will have more question for you. If it is possible we should also meet HR person of University. Next time when I’ll visit, I’ll meet with HOD and HR person both.
