The Omnipresence of Unity in Multiplicity: A Mathematical and Sufi Perspective
Unity is omnipresent in multiplicity. For example, in mathematics, unity is the multiplicative identity (z×1=z). Without unity, there is no multiplicity (z×0=0), and dissolution is a process for reaching the unity behind multiplicity (z/z=1).
In the context of Sufism, 'negation of the self' or 'annihilation of the self' refers to the process of transcending or annihilating one’s ego to achieve a state of unity with the Divine.
