the Unoccupied Paris
A Story of Messy November
November, 2014.
I have a severe schedule-not having exact activities for some days due to uncertainty of the activities, most of them are plans-that affects the way I think lately. As an effect, I want to have everything done quickly like a light in a darkness (I sound exaggerated? yes for that!)
So I was to attend a Symposium in Paris, France in this month. I was busy preparing for a national competition and doing some campaigns last month, I tried to manage the time at the wisest. I realized that we cannot really do one at a time; maybe this is why I want everybody to be able to improve his/her multi-tasking ability. The world is demanding, not me.
I surely had everything planned; did the fundraising for the accommodation, I contacted some of my relatives in Paris, Brussels, and Berlin for a trip I might take after the conference, I booked the flight and bla bla…and most importantly, the VISA.
I have applied for a Schengen VISA to allow me travel to the other parts of Europe, mostly Western member states. Yes, to get the chance to do an interview at the embassy, we have to get the slot. I failed to get the earliest schedule; I had the November-5th appointment at the Dutch Embassy, the day before the conference starts on the other side of the world.
My assumption : You generally can earn (yes, earn) the Schengen VISA from any country listed on Schengen Area. Wrong! However, the French Embassy was moving their office and currently not processing VISA, of course I was suggested to apply through Netherland Embassy; my application there was refused because I was not travelling to Belanda (re: Netherland).
Amusing confusion. Considering about the date and the VISA process, I shall not go. Behind the failure of getting visa, I learned something important; umm….I‘ll tell you later but I’m happy about this because of something else I cannot put on my post. So Paris is UNOCCUPIED.
Sincerely,
Messy Deadline
P.S. : Thanks Ms. xxx for not being able to go too! Good luck for your Harvard MUN!
