Why is Proper Digital Marketing Important in Bangladesh?

In Bangladesh, there are still many businesses who do not exactly understand the concept of digital marketing. Some may think, “Why would I need to pay for some Facebook posts? Posters, miking and raw business skills are enough! And as for Facebook, I can just use my mad Powerpoint skills, MS Paint edts and ‘excellent’ grammar!” But are these enough? Let’s have a look at some of the very important things that you should know about.

1. Your target customers are getting more digital and smarter

I guess you will not be surprised to know that Dhaka is currently the world’s second most active city in the world for Facebook users. As more smartphones are pouring in, the entire Bangladesh is now more connected on the web than ever. And thanks to this, customers are now more inquisitive about the products in the market. Unlike 10 years back, there are thousands of options and a world of many different factors to consider. There are places to get access to easy reviews, i.e. Foodbank, DSD, etc. Therefore as this ‘smart’ crowd is leaning towards social media to learn about products and services, shouldn’t you put more effort here? There’s Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram — the most used platforms are always buzzing with excitement and attracting more and more people.

2. Easily reach a lot more people with a lot less money

Over the digital space, it does not require a lot of money to get into people’s newsfeeds. Use your Facebook page or your YouTube channel to connect to lacs of users, whereas traditional marketing techniques would be too expensive. TV ads? Radio Ads? Paper Ads? You know how costly they can be. Just spend a few bucks on Facebook and target your exact audience. Many agencies and e-commerce companies have targeting techniques that can classify people by their interest, profession and lifestyle choices — and hence help you to identify just the right customer for your product. Just think about why Jhontu’s cafe would still fail in business even after having great food, while on the other hand, Rofik’s mediocre burger joint would rack up many customers with great social media marketing.

3. Without much hassle, you get to create a relationship with your customer.

For any business, customers are everything. Earning their trust and providing them exactly what they want matters the most. And how would you manage that when there are millions of people to analyse? Digital marketing, of course. Customers cannot directly express their feedback to a TV ad or a press ad. But in Facebook or say, Instagram, it’s as easy as a comment or a ‘love’ react. Therefore, getting to know the inside of their minds is a whole less troublesome when you are advertising on the social media.

4. Identify the trends and set the pace of your game

You need to know what gets your crowd moving if you want to get into their heads. Trends drive marketing techniques and trends are ever-changing. So when there’s something hip and cool happening, your social media news feed will obviously reflect it. And that is when you can capitalize on these newfound gems. While you cannot keep on making TV ads or traditional posters every now and then, your social media posts can keep up, enabling you to show your customer base that you are on top of the game.

5. All the smart brands are already looking for the best methods of digital marketing, so what are you waiting for?

Whether its Dhaka or Chittagong, digital marketing is being taken up as the tool for mass conversion everywhere. Small companies are opening up Facebook pages to announce their existence. Growing companies are setting up their brand identities with the help of strategists, designers and copywriters. Established organizations are desperately switching digital agencies alongside traditional ones to bolster their sales and keep up their dominance. Without proper digital marketing, a large chunk of the 21st century Bangladeshis will be out of reach of many company’s radars. Thus, silently, everyone is starting to understand how much importance lies in this rapidly growing sector.
