The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle

I started reading wind up bird chronicle about a month ago. I usually just throw the book into my backpack before going out to studio, and read it on buses or skytrains, which is the reaosn why it took such a tremendously long time for me to get to the end. At first the plot and the Raymond Carver-ish style really caught my attension, perticularly when the cat- Noboro Wataya went missing, and how the author met may, the young lolita in the alley. But as I continue reading more and more, the story just gets too bizzare and strange to be understandable, to the point where i dont think the author would be able to ever explain all the myths and questional concepts in the story.

I don’t know how others perceive the story, perhaps I don’t comprehend very well of literatures, but I actually feel connected to the mediocre, helpless protagonist, and reading about his miserable struggles really keeps me in a better mood, and more truthful to my own feelings as well. Honestly, i still have 50 more pages to finish the book, but i kinda feel reluctant to, knowing that maybe there won’t be an answer to all the questions in my heart.
