Do This Magic to the People and You Will be in Their Hearts
Dale Carnegie is one of the most influential writers of all the times. He has written many books on business, motivation, inspiration, public speaking and social behaviors.” How to Win Friends and Influence People” is the master-piece of his work. Now I will share with you my thoughts about one of the chapters of this book:” Do This and You’ll Be Welcome Anywhere”.
To be interested in others is more important than being interesting in making friends and other social contacts. Because people are interested in themselves rather than others. They think of their own interests, needs, work, and plans. Be genuinely interested in other people. Remember their names and call them by their names. Name is the sweetest word everyone wants to hear. Talk about their schedule, work, future plans, present situations, and problems. Try to provide them better piece of advice and solution. This will create space for you in their heart.

I recently learned this principle: be interested rather than being interesting. I applied this in my life and miracle happened. I was travelling back to home from campus and a young man was sitting beside me. I asked him about himself. I asked about his name, qualification, present job and the reason of travelling. He told me that he is from Sialkot and is going for interview in Punjab College Faisalabad for the lecturer post. I looked at him and adjusted the tie correctly. I gave him some tips and tricks for a better interview. I told them a little about the history of Punjab College and its achievements. I shared my thoughts about interview process that I have learned from Amal Fellowship. He was so excited meeting me and asked: What is your name; what do you do; and what is your calling number? You have been a great help for me. I have applied this principle many times and every time I succeeded. This is the one example of the magic that the principle can do.
