Your bold experiment of tonsuring seems to have been a turning point in your spiritual growth. While applauding you, I would suggest that you should still take care of the physical appearance because society generally judges people by their looks. I am not saying that you should care too much about what others think.
The point is inner beauty is not easily visible to all. It needs a good character and fine moral sensibilities to perceive somebody's inner beauty. This has been my experience in life. Let us face the harsh reality which is that the majority lack aesthetic sense and moral sensitivity.
There is no conflict between physical beauty and spiritual strength. A physically beautiful person can be spiritually advanced also.
