Your thoughts resonate with me with a sense of de ja vu. I am also a friendless person. But I feel friendlessness is not a curse. It can even be a blessing as it has been with you. The aphorism “a friend in need is a friend indeed" is clothed in deceit. I have learnt the hard way that friendship is “you scratch my back, I will scratch yours”. Altruism is rare. If you have a circle of friends at least half of them will have a negative mindset. Nothing can be more toxic than the company of a negative person. The cacophony of noise that human company generates will prevent us from inward contemplations. Our inner voices and the great masters who speak through their books are our best friends .
