Mulika Tanzania as an active member of African Youth Adolescents Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN Tanzania Chapter), has been working collaboratively with other network members to promote Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) to adolescents and young people in Tanzania and beyond.

Earlier last year, Mulika Tanzania was able to be well represented in South Africa on Leadership training on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) which was organized and supported by SRHR Africa Trust (previously known as Southern African AIDS Trust) which is an innovative organization with a regional footprint contributing to improved systems for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of girls, adolescents and women in East and Southern Africa (ESA).

The training aimed to capacitate youth on SRHR advocacy and activism and how young leaders can amplify their issues by strengthening their institutions and collaborations. Furthermore, the training gave participants core skills on the effective and impactful use of digital platforms such as Social Media uses to amplify youth and adolescent cases for positive change.

The discussion on how best youth can be innovative in promoting SRHR at their community. The group had some of the participants from different countries of East and Southern Africa during the Youth Leadership Programme organized by SRHR Africa Trust (previously known as Southern African AIDS Trust) in East and Southern Africa (ESA), the event held at Johannesburg in South Africa.

Through, training as Mulika Tanzania was well represented by our energetic, visionary and a young leader Miss Catherine Madebe.Ms.Catherine was awarded as a Best Celebrity on SRHR among many youths who participated from different countries in East and Southern Africa. The award targeted the most influential youth who were able to deliver and advocate for SRHR agendas to the community and these include family planning, gender-based violence, and gender equality.

Ms. Catherine Madebe, assistant Programs Lead of Mulika Tanzania awarded as SRHR Best Celebrity in Eastern and Southern Africa during the Youth Leadership Programme organized by SRHR Africa Trust (previously known as Southern African AIDS Trust), the event held at Johannesburg in South Africa.

‘’Mulika Tanzania through Ongea Human right awareness project which was a project aimed to sensitize the issues of human rights to youth through argumentative debates. It prepared a set of different topics and among of the debated topics was about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This aimed to explore youth perception and understanding about SRHR and GBV in general and how they can take affirmative actions towards the challenges underlying SRHR in their communities. This project amplified our organization works on championing SRHR in Tanzania and beyond. Also increased my capacity in promoting SRHR to my fellow young people, Ms. Catherine Madebe’’.

‘’The gained skills and knowledge from the Youth Leadership Programme act as a catalyst to our programming works at Mulika Tanzania in championing SRHR, she added’’.
