How to Out-Diversify Each Other

Affirmative action or positive discrimination is the policy of favoring members of a disadvantaged group who suffer from discrimination within a culture.

Basically it means people are being hired and kept because employers need to reach racial or gender quotas and not based on the employees skill.

In this Saturday Night Live skit, Donna and Jodi try to help women deal with diversity in workplace.

In this video, a woman offends a black man (“diverse” person 1) with a stereotype (the handshake), and then because she feels so awkward Donna and Jodi advise her to act very submissive and apologize with her head on his shoulder (like a woman), and when she offends him again with another stereotype, Donna and Jodi advise her that she needs to out-diversify him by being a “wheelchair lesbian.”

In the past, being diverse was something that could hinder you, but now that companies are forced to embrace diversity, it’s something that people are using to their advantage.
