The Future is Without Apps

Don’t you think the app model today is reminiscent of the CD model back in the day?

You’d have to install from a CD for every piece of software you wanted to use. One CD for MS Office, one CD for your favourite game, another for an antivirus and another to watch your favourite movie. Today, instead of CDs, we’re installing different apps for different use cases. One(?) app for social media, one for football scores, another for news and so on.

Much like how the browser became the one gateway to the world wide internet back in the day, Google search and app developers must work on deep linking native content to the web, marrying the app and web experiences so that everything is again “just a Google search away”
