Thanks for the gifts, Basecamp!

Within a few hours after I shared this Medium article on Twitter, Basecamp replied to my tweet that they’re going to mail me a gift. I was really excited and quickly emailed them my office address.

I initially was not sure whether they’re still going to do this after I told them about my office location in Indonesia, which is not anywhere near to the United States. The Signal v. Noise team demonstrated (again) how serious they’re to deliver what they had promised. The fact that my office is thousand of miles away did not deter them from sending the gift.

A few weeks later, the stuffs arrived in our GCI office. All safe and sound. My team quickly opened the box together and loved what we found: 4 Basecamp stickers, 4 Basecamp plushies, and several colorful sweatbands. Awesome! Our team will take a good care of them.

But, beyond the cute toys and stickers (I already stuck one on my laptop), we’re grateful that we could make this connection to the company — and the people behind it — who created the software we love and trust, to build our own team. Thus, thank you!

In this photo: some members of the GCI Product team and me (center). And, of course, the Basecamp plushies which had just joined our family.

This was as candid as we could before a camera. It’s pretty obvious that we are Product people, not models. :)

Did you also notice the framed poster in our background picture? We had it almost since the very beginning the founder started our company. It says:

“The longer it takes to develop, the less likely it is to launch” by Jason Fried.

And, we are still living by it.

Thanks to sylvia c who coordinated the shipping of the gifts.
