Effective Feedback: Becoming an Andelan

I think it’s very important to have a feedback loop, where you’re constantly thinking about what you’ve done and how you could be doing it better.”
– Elon Musk

As Individuals, we sometimes lack the ability to objectively judge ourselves, which is why psychologist would always advice that we see feedback from other people. Seeking feedback is key to continuous and constant improvement if we apply the feedback that is received.

Yesterday I got my first feedback for the Andela Boot-Camp. I had really been expecting it, though with a little feeling of dread. The Human mind is quite an interesting conjurer of scenarios and mine had a field day conjuring different scenarios of the kind of feedback I will get.

Thankfully, all the ‘evil’ scenarios my mind conjured up didn’t happen, I received a very constructive feedback that pointed out my strengths and also showed me my weak point for me to work on.

I had to take out time to reflect on my feedback, especially on the area I need to improve on and come up with ways to apply the feedback I received.

Over the course of this Boot Camp, I have come to realize that Andela seeks not just to make me a world class programmer but a better individual than I am, I count myself privileged to acquire this experience.
