Flower Message: Open Your Heart for Limitless Possibilities

This week’s Museflower: Orange Jessamine

My journey with this week’s Museflower:

I decided to follow my intuition, and made the flower essence of this beautifully scented flower one day before I left to Hong Kong, because I knew it wouldn’t be there after I returned in three weeks.

I’m glad I did. The flower was already gone by the time I returned.

I was very much looking forward to return to Hong Kong, my home, after being away for three months. It was time to get out from Chiang Rai — the same old daily routine here was starting to become boring and draining.

The first week I was back home, it was amazing. Meeting up with friends and family, dressing up and putting make up on, staying up late with no obligation to wake up early next day, running from one appointment to the next — it was the opposite of my daily routine in Chiang Rai. I was busy with the city life and I enjoyed it very much.

The second week I went to Seoul for a weekend with my sister for a girls’ trip. Shopping, eating, and just catching up and spending some quality bonding time together — another refreshing experience from the life in Chiang Rai.

Then, I fell sick. I had a fever and headache, and I had to postpone all my appointments to the following week.

You can say the excitement of being in the city and away from Chiang Rai has died down, completely.

I was lying on the bed for two days and saw a Chinese doctor for an acupuncture treatment and some Chinese medicine. It took me another three days to regain my energy.

When I was sick, I can tell you — no surprise, I miss Chiang Rai. I miss the fresh air. I miss my fiancé and my dog and my housekeeper. I miss the greenery and the connection with Mother Nature.

The third week was when I attended to the appointments that I previously postponed. Most of the appointments were actually Hado counseling sessions.

One interesting thing I noticed in the three weeks I spent in Hong Kong, was that people in Hong Kong were very much in their ‘head’ space. And I think this applies to people who live in cities in general.

We (I say “we” since I’m also from HK) guard our hearts carefully, because we are afraid.

We are afraid of other people taking advantage of us, afraid of missing out, afraid of getting hurt, so we focus a lot of energy in our “head” space to come up with solutions, to resolve problems, to deal with people.

In the day and age when information of our private lives becomes so transparent, our hearts somehow become more walled up and difficult to connect.

I’ll give you an example of what I witnessed in the city. I was just walking down a street in busy Central (that’s the business district in HK) to my next appointment. On the way there was this old man pushing a cart of trash up towards a slope on the road. He was obviously quite tired and had not much strength left, so he asked these two hipster-looking young men who were passing by to help. These two young men laughed and kept on walking.

Later on, another middle-aged man who was a mover nearby went over to help the old man.

The whole incident was only probably thirty seconds by the way.

My example here is not to point out anyone’s mistake. If there was any, it was me who also didn’t go to help. In my mind, I was thinking two things: I would probably look weird to go help out, and what if I couldn’t even push that cart up. So silently in my heart, I hope someone else could help, but no, not me.

I just want to use this example to show how numb people including me can become when you live in a city. It’s better not to help, because if you help, you may even be blamed for it. In Hong Kong where it is filled with so much frustration energy lately, you have to be careful that your actions do not trigger any frustration or anger from other people, so the best solution is just not to do anything.

But it doesn’t mean that everyone is heartless in a city. In fact, during my Hado counseling sessions, I can feel that some people are so ready to open their hearts to receive.

When we open our hearts and our minds to receive, we will see the limitless possibilities that the Universe presents to us.

This is the gentle reminder of this week’s museflower Orange Jessamine, and that’s why I nickname it “Island of Jewels”.

In any sort of healing sessions, when the receiver is open with her mind and her heart, I see that the effect of the healing is much stronger.

A lot of times we are focused on the ‘how’ — this is what I mean by being stuck in the ‘head’ space. How can we make more money? How can we lose more weight? How can our children get into the best schools? How can we get well from our illnesses? How, how, how?

There is nothing wrong to be in the ‘head’ space, by the way. We need that for practical reasons.

But again, it’s about the balance.

When we breathe into our ‘heart’ space and listen to our soul’s voice deep within, then the “how” will follow.

This is what limitless possibilities mean. It’s like getting up to the top of the mountain. Someone may walk, someone may drive, someone may even take a helicopter — they are all going to the same point, and eventually they will end up in the same destination.

Sometimes we think we should do this and that, so we can achieve our goals and dreams.

But as a lot of you are aware already — the way we plan may not be the way the Universe works.

So, instead of being obsessed with the ‘how’, focus on the end result. How will you feel when you achieve your goal? What will you be like when you are living as your authentic self? Who will you be with?

Write down these feelings in your journal (or a piece of paper), then forget about it.

Yes, you read it right — forget about it. Let go of whatever the ‘how’ will be. When it is the right time, you will know from deep inside you what you need to do.

Meanwhile, just enjoy the ride with your heart fully open.

When your heart is open, you can ‘see’ the Universe’s gifts waiting for you at your Island of Jewels. Sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for the right moment. Sometimes when the opportunity presents itself, then it’s time to take action.

Now, are you ready to embrace the limitless possibilities Life has to offer?

P.S. Week four — I’m back to Chiang Rai, my ‘workplace’, and I’m pretty sure now I want to call it home. Oddly enough, I don’t even care about the bugs around (until they get too close), because hey — that’s Mother Nature and I really enjoy it.

Unbalanced aspect:

The unbalanced Island of Jewels is constantly worried and stuck in her ‘head’ space. Since she uses her head to think and judge a lot, sometimes she gets headaches so her body forces her to stop thinking for a while.

She is obsessed with whatever she wants to achieve, and becomes fixated in the way to achieve her goals.

She doesn’t even mind to sacrifice herself as a martyr just to prove that her way is the only way to achieve her goal. She becomes narrow minded and defensive when others disagree or do not follow her way.

When the ego is triggered, she reacts immediately with anger, sarcasm, or by shutting out other people with a cold shoulder.

On the surface, she appears to be organized and disciplined. But actually, she has become too rigid with her life and is resistant to changes.

Deep down, she just wants to be loved and approved of. But she is so afraid to get hurt that she guards her heart too well and denies all the possibilities that Life has to offer.

Balanced aspect:

The balanced Island of Jewels embraces life with passion and love with her heart fully open. She is aware of the ego’s tendency to guard the heart and to easily become defensive, so she is mindful of her emotional responses.

Instead of being triggered and reacting right away to situations with uncontrolled emotions, she observes the emotions arise and knows that she is not that emotion; she is only feeling this emotion.

She examines what kind of limiting beliefs she still holds that triggers a certain emotional response.

She surrounds herself with other Balanced Island of Jewels, and together they support and comfort each other with care and compassion.

She makes plans for her life but understands that sometimes plans may not flow the way she wants it to be, and that’s okay — it’s not the end of the world.

She embraces changes in her life, because that’s how she can grow and evolve.

She surrenders to the Universe on how to achieve her dreams, as she knows that when it’s the right time, the Universe will give her signs what to do.

Whichever step she takes at the moment is the right step. No matter how insignificant or tiny that step is, every choice she makes will lead to numerous possibilities, but all bringing her closer to the realization of her dreams.

What is Flower Message?

With every flower message, I sit down with the flower and listen with my intuition. I will first start one sentence that summarizes the topic of this week’s flower. I will also use a nickname for the flower instead of using its official name. The nickname is usually related to the flower’s topic. Then I will delve into what the unbalanced and balanced aspect of the flower. In some way when we resonate with the topic of this flower, it’s because we have some part of the unbalanced aspect of the flower, and the flower will help bring us back to the balanced aspect. This is mostly a personal journey, but I realize sometimes other people do share what I’m going through at the same time. Hence the flower message is born.

How to Use this?

Observe and reflect if this week’s topic is relevant to you in any way. Do you notice the unbalanced aspect of the flower in you? Or do you feel balanced for this topic?
