Fuck The Need To Coin An Opposition Moniker
Meninist? All Lives Matter? Even Blue Lives Matter.

Why? Why do you need to gather under a badge in opposition against something that is designed to promote positive change? There is a strange assumption at play that says if something isn’t all-inclusive that is against anything not included, and this isn’t the case.
Being for a certain something means that you are championing one particular cause, and there is nothing wrong in this. Charities come in more than one variety — the kind that sprays money everywhere indiscriminately and the ones who pick their niche and work it. A cause is like a niche, and it grows out of a need to handle a problem — to draw attention to a predicament, and to hopefully lead to a solution being arrived at.
Sometimes a person wants to deliver a monologue, and sometimes they want to be involved in a dialogue. Sometimes you aren’t being asked for your opinion — sometimes you are being asked to listen. And you know what, if the person asking comes from a group that is not often listened to, is it going to hurt you to keep your trap shut and let them talk for once? Probably not, right?
When you see someone talking about an institution or a culture that systematically oppresses a minority group, weighing in with the counter-argument that life is unfair to you on a personal level isn’t really relevant. You are guilty of false equivalence.
The correct response to Black Lives Matter is “Yes, they do.” Saying “But all lives matter,’ actually misses the point, but it is worse than that — you haven’t actually acknowledged that you heard the origination of the group communicating to you. What you have done is turn to a group who is protesting not being heard and demonstrated that you’re not listening either.
Air your grievances at the appropriate time. Finding out about police violence against black people and responding with, look at what black people do to each other isn’t you putting across your side of the argument. They are two separate problems. Are you saying that violence within a racial group excuses oppression of said group by outside forces? That suggests you don’t care about a solution, just about being right.
Coining a name to turn up the volume on your personal beef is problematic — you are basically trying to hog the spotlight; you can’t even cede the stage for long enough that a differing viewpoint can be expressed. You are part of the problem. Try turning down your loudhailer and use the stereophonic listening apparatus bolted to the side of your head — learning involves receiving input, and there are always lessons to be learned.
