Grand Jamia Mosque in Bahria Town Karachi

Grand Jamia Masjid is the grand mosque in Bahria Town Karachi, and when completed, it will be the third-largest mosque in the world, as well as the largest mosque in Pakistan.

The Jamia Masjid, the largest edifice in Pakistan’s largest housing complex, is considered the showpiece project of Bahria Town Karachi.

Another notable development project in Bahria Town Karachi is the Rafi Cricket Stadium, which when completed would be the largest cricket stadium in Pakistan.

ARTWORK & ARCHITECTURE:

The Badshahi Masjid in Lahore and the Jama Masjid in Delhi are two Mughal-style mosques that influenced the architecture of the Grand Jamia Masjid.

The Grand Jamia Masjid in Bahria Town Karachi is even more impressive since it incorporates and takes inspiration from numerous Islamic architectural styles, including those from Turkey, Malaysia, and Iran. Interior design will be inspired by Mughal, Sindh, Bukhara, Samarqand, and Bukhara art.

The mosque will include a single gigantic 325-foot minaret, comparable to many ancient mosques in the Islamic world, that will be visible from several areas around Bahria Town Karachi and will contribute to the mosque’s magnificence.

Nayyar Ali Dada, a prominent Pakistani architect, designed the Grand Jamia Masjid Karachi. He also built the Grand Jamia Mosque in Lahore’s Bahria Town, which is Pakistan’s largest mosque, with a capacity of 70,000 people overall and 25,000 inside.

The inside of the masjid will be decorated with classic Islamic calligraphy, mosaic ceramics, tiles, and marbles, while the outside blocks will be coated in white marble and beautiful geometric design patterns.

CAPACITY & CONSTRUCTION:

In 2015, Nosherwan, the oldest employee of Bahria Town Karachi, led the ground-breaking ceremony for the Jamia Masjid.

It is Pakistan’s largest concrete structure and mosque, with a total construction area of 200 acres and 1,600,000 square feet.

With a combined interior and outdoor capacity of 50,000 and over 800,000, the Jamia Masjid Bahria Town is the third biggest mosque after Masjid-al-Haram and Masjid-al-Nabvi. With its 500 arches and 150 domes, it is one of the most beautiful mosques in the world.

The Jinnah Commercial Avenue, where this structure is located, connects the Grand Jamia Masjid to other precincts and districts of Bahria Town Karachi.

Other Characteristics

The Grand Jamia Mosque will also have an Islamic Community Center, which will include the following amenities:

Islamic Research Centre
Islamic Museum spread over an area of 200,000 sq ft
Islamic Cultural Centre
International University
Islamic Library with 500,000 books
Hi Tech Laboratory

Because of these institutes and centres, it will become a destination where Islamic cultural legacy is protected and propagated.
