Fact-checking Black Atheist’s Anti-Islamic Lyrics
The song is called “Stockholm Syndrome” by Greydon Square. A link to the song is included at the bottom of the page.

“This is to Islam, and its fundamentalism:
The day you release your women, I’ll quit releasing venom
Until then, no amount of scientific contributions
Could ever excuse your hateful chauvinistic institution”
Anticipated Rebuttal: “But Islam is not a chauvinistic institution because most of the Muslim men I know aren’t chauvinists.”
Islam (as defined by the Quran and the recorded teachings of Muhammad) can be a chauvinistic institution even if every Muslim man in the world was a true-to-form feminist. We’re not talking about how your co-worker Karim or your local imam interprets Islam. We’re talking about what the Quran and the teachings and quotes of Muhammad actually instruct. What ideas these scriptures reinforce and codify.
So let’s take a look…
Chapter 4, verse 34 of the Quran says that husbands can physically discipline their wives in certain cases. Muslim scholars have made the case that it only instructs a light tap. But regardless of this being true or not, almost all of them agree that this verse does command men to discipline their wives in some capacity and in certain scenarios. And the verse specifies that men are granted this responsibility/position by right of what a supreme creator has granted them as men. With that said, what more is left to discuss? What’s being misunderstood? What more clarity could a learned Islamic scholar provide that would make this verse NOT indicative of a chauvinistic system of ideas, beliefs, and practices?
But let’s put that thought on hold for now and move to the next line that bashes Islam:
But, here’s the real reason I’m not a Muslim
Children. See your anointed prophet used to fuck em
Listen, Mohammed was taking children as wives
One he married at six and consummated at nine
He was somewhere in his 50’s trying to get in them drawers
She wasn’t even 10 yet, still playing with dolls
So they try to give me that, “oh the times were different”
Rationalizing atrocities now you sound like Christians
I charge the views on women as sickening
Either update the culture or just fade into history
But either way…
“Children? Muhammad only married one child, Aisha. ‘Still playing with dolls’? How ignorant. This person knows NOTHING about Islam and is just cherry picking things and taking them out of context to serve their hateful, bigoted agenda against Islam!”
You’re right. The only child he married was Aisha. But whether you rape one hundred children or one child, you’re still a child rapist.
So let’s move on now to the mention of dolls.
“So you read something somewhere about Aisha playing with dolls and before digging deeper or asking more questions from actual Muslims, you made an ill-informed assumption about one of the world’s greatest religions that is followed by 1.7 billion people of whom the majority are good people.”
Well, the doll issue is pretty damning because there’s evidence from Islam’s own recorded history that states Aisha played with dolls at the time of consummation.
The pro-Muhammad argument is that even though Aisha was only 10, she was no longer a child but a person who was mature enough for sex with a full-grown man who had all sorts of power and influence at his fingertips. And that the doll thing means nothing. “Who knows what the word used for ‘doll’ actually meant in 7th century Arabia? It could’ve been a fashion accessory for women. Aisha was NOT a child and was actually a mature woman.”
Well, further research indicates otherwise and actually aligns with the Islamic consensus on idolatry. The authenticated scriptural account states that Aisha was playing with dolls and that dolls were forbidden because of Islam’s strict prohibition of idolatry but that Aisha was allowed to have one because she was a child meaning that she was using it as a toy to play with, not as an idol to worship.
So it looks like Greydon Square’s anti-Islamic lyrics passed all of its fact-checks. So what’s so bad about simply being anti-Islam?
Has he called for deportation of Muslims?
No.
Has he called for travel bans against Muslims?
No.
Has he called for any discrimination against people simply for being Muslim?
No.
So, I know ask you, what is the problem? What is the problem with calling out bad ideologies?
