Context and perspective in understanding how to discuss diversity
You’re sadly, repeatedly, missing the point – and that’s one of our problems. Your lens on the life around you, the excuses, and what this all means, is limited to your context and privilege. These companies should feel disappointed. A lot of the good ones acknowledge this, and this was written with an awareness of the intentions, motivations, situations, and environments.
We’re not looking for praise. Read it again, and do the work yourself to research and understand the impact of the underlying issues, so that you can actually engage constructively, not defensively.
