Prayer — Islamic perspective

As we all know that Prayer is one of the most basic and main central elements of Islamic practice along with worshiping to God. It is a common fact that in Islam, it is the second of the Five Pillars of Islam plus with the means of the testimony of faith along with the pilgrimage to Meccaal mukarramah which is located in saudi plus the fasting the month of Ramadan and paying the poor tax.

Prayer is basically defined as the obligation of the faith that is to be performed five times a day all by the side of the adult Muslims. According to Islamic laws and customs, prayer is being readily accessible in the countless form of the obligations and conditions of observance. In the Holy Qur’ān, Allah says: “I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me”. If we would define prayer in simple terms then it is basically known out to be the response to this Divine directive to the side of the worship the Creator. It is all about the combination of the seeking, believing, directing and communicating with Allah s.w.t. It is often acting out the representation of the concrete manifestation of the Islamic conception of free will.

Prayer is also known as Du’a that is an Arabic word which means “to supplicate” or “to call upon.” Other similar terms that are used for prayers are munajah as well as nida. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an: “Say: Who delivereth you from the darkness of the land and the sea? Ye calls upon Him humbly and in secret, (saying): If we are delivered from this (fear) we truly will be of the thankful”. As being one of the most important pillars of Islam, prayer is holding enormous importance and has been described in detail in so many chapters and verses of Holy Quran. It is one of those foundations of Islam that overall complete the image of a Muslim and give a complete meaning to their lifestyle.
