Between 2015~2019, mostly the 3 years period of 2016~2018, we were trying to find products that we can bring from Japan to Saudi. During those years, I think I sat down with roughly 150 companies and listened to their product pitches and gotten their pamphlets.

We ended up with around 4 projects related to Saudi-Japan, one was exporting but it didn’t go through, 3 others were translating. We wasted a lot of time but learned great lessons in the process.

What happened?

We iterated our methods a few times, tried to organize things, but nothing worked out. I doubted myself…

I am surprised people don’t recognize the power of a commuter pass in Japan.

Most people will think a commuter pass as simply that, a pass that gets you from point A to point B. I think of it as a tool that makes me go cheaper (or for free) to many different places. If you are employed, guess what? somebody else is paying for all of that too.

In this article, I am going to distill how do I think about the commuter pass and how I try to design the best routes that essentially provide me with a…

In my years working as a business co-founder, I am proud to say that in our tiny little bubble, I have managed to attract a few “potential” talents, and over time turned them into great candidates.

Not to sound cliche, but I still remember a quote by Andrew Carnegie, the king of steel, from Dale Carnegie’s book.

“Men are developed the same way gold is mined. When gold is mined, several tons of dirt must be moved to get an ounce of gold; but one doesn’t go into the mine looking for dirt-one goes in looking for the gold.”

Andrew…

Don’t. Please just don’t decide to jump ship all of the sudden. I did that back when I was 25, and as much as it has been an amazing learning experience, it has also been a very painful experience. I don’t recommend jumping in right away.

Of course, I recognize that circumstances differ from person to person. I hope the advice below will help. If you are an employee, there is plenty to do before you jump all of a sudden. You need patience by your side though.

One thing you -optimally- would want to do, is to lower the…

Good luck…starts with a decision.

This is what I believe. People think good luck is something that comes to some people and doesn’t to others. This might be partially true? But not entirely. my firm belief is that, for most people, they can build to have better luck, to an extent.

Let’s starts with the definition of luck.
The dictionary says:

success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions.

Sometimes, yes. Pure good/bad luck from outside factors puts you in certain positions you didn’t ask for.

For other times, when it comes to good luck…

Ok, so you have been living for a few months (or years) now in Japan. You still have a few years ahead of you (or a lifetime). Everything is nice. You are used to life here. Maybe you speak a few words of Japanese, and maybe you are fluent already.

Nonetheless, one day you use an online service that requires you to connect your bank account. You go through all the steps, and when you hit execute, suddenly, there is a pop-up! …
