With the recent mint out of the Elementals collection, Mad V-Apes (MVA) is currently all the rage in the VNFT space.
Mad V-Apes (MVA) is an NFT collection of nearly 20,000 unique artworks based on our primate ancestors. The collection provides an innovative approach to how we picture our ancestral primates in the form of 2D and 3D designs, with a modern twist of realism and fantasy. MVA has all the artistic aspects required to be considered the Bluechip NFT project of the VeChain ecosystem. But this isn’t enough to hold the seat of the most sought after and most collected VNFT project.
The onus goes to the community, the cherry on top in this project, alongside excellent leadership, moderation and engagement from Ner0 and the community team. Furthermore, recent developments into “Web3” and the Metaverse are putting Mad V-Apes at the forefront of development and innovation in the VNFT space.
In light of all this, the question remains, how did they get here and where does it go from here?
Collections
Every successful NFT project features a range of high-quality artworks and styles that attempt to reimagine the world of digital art. MVA has hit the nail on the head with their myriad of collections and plethora of attributes.
What seems synonymous amongst their collection is that they feature a curated pairing between the material/fantastical world and our primate ancestors, funneling the concept of the metabiological-self immersed in the present/fictional world.
The Alpha collection
This Collection was the first set of NFTs released by MVA which consisted of 4,999 “Mad Apes’’ boasting a random assortment of apes designed in various items and features in the form of 2D art. The Alpha collection is considered the ‘OG’ of the MVA ecosystem and will always hold the highest incentives for holders. The collection was first made available for sale on the 1st of December 2021 and minted out in the span of 34hours! Following this, incentives were created for MVA holders assuring a FUSION ape for every 3 Alpha apes held.
The Fusion collection
This collection integrated a unique perspective on design as this was the first collection to boast innovatively generated 3D “Mad V-Apes”. The Fusion series is the second collection released by MVA which showcases hyper-accurate artwork and include a vast array of styles and features such as their mind-boggling 53 unique fur types.
The artwork and detail with the Fusion series are second to none, with even details such as individual fur hairs to be seen clearly upon inspection. This backdrop highlights the ambition and innovation the team took on calculated risks to produce this incredible set of NFTs. The Fusion series was made publicly available on the 5th of February 2022 and sold out in the matter of 1 minute 15 seconds!
Both Alpha and Fusion collections were teased with the further intention of NFT utility, beginning with the room for breeding and staking rewards. The demand drew in droves of new holders, but what retained the holders was the engaging community and the looming rumor of a 3rd collection.
The Elementals collection
This one went back to the team’s roots of their original collection, the Alpha Series, but with an unexpected twist! The collection of 9,999 Elementals utilized their original expertise in 2D animation and brought forward the concept of the female apes, the first of its kind not found anywhere else in the blockchain community.
The artwork is based on the four elements; Earth, Fire, Water and Air, and fully embraces the fictional aesthetics with modern-innovative pairings. Half of the total supply of Elementals were airdropped to all 4,999 Alpha “Mad V-Ape” holders and the rest of the 5000 Elementals were made public on the 19th of March 2022. The collection sold out in a matter of 33 minutes, making it a community first in the VeChain space.
The primary intention of the Elementals collection is the utility of breeding with prior collections. This piggybacking of one collection to the next ensured MVA holders were given NFTs with appreciating utility.
Community
Earlier we mentioned one factor that played a pinnacle role in MVA’s success is its community. Communities are often a critical source for social connection and a sense of belonging, hence, building a strong community bonded by the right attitudes, values and goals is essential in creating a sustainable project. The atmosphere and platform MVA have created ticks all the boxes of what projects intend and strive to do when creating a healthy and sustainable community.
Top-down communication
One of the key aspects as to how MVA have achieved such high community engagement and sustainability is through the free flow of information between hierarchies i.e. top-down communication. This allows members of the community to freely access information directly from the source and thereby making gaps in knowledge negligible. Additionally, transparent and direct communication between the community and MVA team has allowed the project to operate sustainably without fluctuations in performance whilst meeting criteria and expectations.
Genuinity
Exceptions are obviously made to the inherent bad characters, but the community binds together to protect one another from them. There is a particular atmosphere and platform that MVA has curated which has allowed interactions to be guided by rationalization and reasoning but also leaves room for individualisation.
Moreover, there is a synonymous feeling that is shared between members of the community, and that is the want for everybody to get along, work beside each other rather than against, and freely share ideas and information. As a result, it has allowed MVA to bolster their reputation in the VNFT space, overcome challenges and meet the expectations of its shareholders.
Most importantly, it has allowed them to create content that is not just backed by “hype”, rather a more genuine and valuable proposition to be made to its community members.
Future
The future is bright for MVA, it consists of a team that never stops working and a community that never stops asking for more. Recently, MVA has taken onboard influences from startup business advisors and have begun to develop aspects for cross-chain integration.
Mass marketing is also on the horizon and shall be timed alongside the release of the MVA Metaverse. Currently, we have already witnessed a large social media presence and even a Billboard advert in Times Square New York, hence, high expectations are placed in this regard.
NFT Worlds & DAO
After the Elementals mint, two major announcements were released, the first is the purchase of a land block on NFTWorlds (11.45 ETH~33,000 USD), and the second is the setting up of the MVA DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) with 500,000 VET. These 2 steps will be quintessential to developing a Web3 based application and will put MVA out into the greater ecosystem.
MVA is currently in the process of hiring Entity Builds, a Microsoft partner, and an official Minecraft builder to develop the MVA World. Entity Builds have an exceptional résumé and are the minds responsible for building the Bored Ape Yacht Clubhouse. It’s safe to say that the future of MVA is within the best hands in the space. Furthermore, establishing a DAO wallet will provide holders with influence over the decisions of the allocated funds, giving governance back to the community. This additionally opens the avenue for rewards to be paid back to holders depending on how the DAO will operate.
ApeWorld
It is a self-sustainable, community-driven online platform, which features several different locations. MVA holders will be able to access the platform with their NFTs as their identities.
Within ApeWorld you will be able to stake your apes at ‘The Casino’ for rewards or fight for glory at ‘The Bar’. Land sales will also begin at ‘The Real Estate’, allowing the purchase of land and even opening up the possibility of developing unique DApps within the MVA ecosystem.
The idea behind this is to provide holders autonomy upon how they spend their time and to advocate the development of diverse ideas and concepts, created for the community, by the community. Undiscussed but highly speculated, is the presence of ‘The Lab’ in ApeWorld, opening the avenue for Mutant Mad V-Apes to be created further down the track.
Future Collection
Currently, there are active, albeit slightly confusing plans to develop future collections, these collections will be brought into the MVA ecosystem through burning. Burning provides room for further appreciation of remaining NFTs whilst continuing to generate new NFTs for the holders. At the time of writing, 2 unique collections of GEN-2 FUSION apes and Female FUSION apes have been announced.
These new collections are key to developing the Mad V-Ape children through the breeding mechanism.
There will be 1,000 GEN-2 FUSION apes, these shall be burned FUSION apes with a to be determined method of selecting the lucky 1,000 based on the collaborative effort of community and team input.
This will result in a remaining 4,000 FUSION apes and reorganized rarity scores to reflect the supply reduction. Female FUSION apes, on the other hand, shall comprise of 5,000 burned Elementals, resulting in 5,000 unburnt Elementals for Alpha breeding.
Currently, it appears that partners of the breeding process both play an imperative role in determining the rarity of the children. It is yet to be determined if traits play any role in the outcome of the children.
The overarching intention is to continue developing new collections whilst reducing or hopefully making additional VET unnecessary for current MVA holders to participate.
Interestingly, the timing of announcements has always been impeccable with the MVA team. Announcing new developments that immediately boost attention and value of recently released collections. This has been noticed and seen with all previous releases and continues to develop the flame and passion holders have for these beautiful collections. The non-cash grab type thinking and passion is really why MVA stands out from many other projects in the VNFT ecosystem and the wider NFT community. This level of planning and organization should always be considered a gold standard within the space.
Safe Haven Collaboration
Hot off the press is the Safe Haven and Mad-VApes partnership, this will result in deepened levels of security and recovery methods for MVA NFTs and any proposed utility tokens. The partnership provides an access point to the metadata even if the wallet keys are lost. To put this simply, the funds are safe and are permanently secure on the blockchain. To add to this is also discussions of an NFT collaboration in the works.
Closing remarks
A quote from Ner0 himself, to set the tone, “Before MVA, I participated in many projects as a community member. However, to say my experience was unpleasant would be an understatement. There were many instances of rug pulls, projects under delivering and setting unrealistic promises. I genuinely felt sad as I saw how this affected the community. Hence, I decided to start my own venture to start setting an example for other projects by doing things right by the community as they should be the most important aspect of any project.” I believe this sums up very clearly the intent and passion for Mad V-Apes.
So herein lies the ‘where they came from’ and the ‘where they go from here’. We hope this brings a clearer understanding of why we view MVA in such high regard and also starts some of the cognitive gears turning. We believe there is no shilling necessary, as once the facts are presented in the open, the decision to move forward is clear.
