Therefore, being a jack of all trades (programming languages) minus having a proper understanding of the core concepts is a waste. On the other hand being a master of one trade, being grounded in that, and having a proper understanding of the concepts to better implement your solution, so much so that the code is just at your fingertips is a huge payoff. Of course, you can then go ahead and add on other languages, but beware of sometimes getting confused in the syntax.
Sometimes picking up new programming languages is a result of a project assigned to you.
