When we built a home 1.5 years ago, Google Fiber was one of the key considerations — meaning we could have moved elsewhere but I wasn’t about to give it up.

Our city (Provo) built a municipal fiber network and we’re still paying for it after Google took it over. I have no regrets about it personally, but it’s not as overwhelmingly popular as you might think. People don’t like to be forced to pay for something they don’t (think they) use.
