Patriarchy is a dog

The Birthday message

A few days ago, it was Abba Mayanja’s 18th birthday and the mom decided to pen a message on Instagram to the son

A mother is celebrating her son while reflecting on their journey and y’all decided to drop think pieces on her ? And no, it is not a comprehension problem. Patriarchy is structured in a way that those who benefit from it adamantly oppose anything they dim threatening to them. I simply admire Daniela because she’s better than me. She chose to only speak on her experience without saying anything more on the other party.
It’s not long ago that it was in the news about how abusive her marriage was. With photos and all.
An abusive home never spares the kids. The sadness about Patriarchy is that it even structures how one should express themselves on any matter. There are certain things which society accepts only when they’re done by men. When women do them, they are condemned. In many ways, our society is still rooted in a deeply chauvinistic labyrinth wherein the burden of morality is placed on women. A man can have multiple partners and it’s okay, because "men are like that". But a woman with multiple partners is a "whore". A man finds a lady cheating once and she’s condemned to eternal damnation. But when it’s the man caught cheating, there’s a silent expectation that she must endure it. It is so bad that as women, when they’re cheated on and disrespected by men, their own mothers tell them to bear it. With bold audacity, they say: "stay strong" It’s almost as if it is the duty of a woman to endure life, and the privilege of men to enjoy it. Women cry for liberation but you need to liberate yourselves. This notion that when you have affairs with other women’s partners is because you are better, more beautiful should stop. No woman is better than the other. You need to stop being your own enemies.Patriarchy is a highest form of mental slavely and as Bob Marley sings in, Redemption, non but ourselves can free our minds so it begins with you . The message by Daniela Atim was a simple reflection on the efforts to raise her children, how social media came in to gag and even attack her is amazing. Patriarchy is a huge dog
