I remember being quite young, maybe about 8 years old and my mom would carry around a notebook to write the things she was eating, at the time she ate them. I believe this was the beginnings of Weight Watchers.

I asked my mom why she carried around the notebook and she told me, it was always much more accurate to record the observations at the time they were made rather than relying on her memory to recant all the food she had consumed.
