Decency. Respect. Consideration.

Where have these attributes gone?

Mornings are stressful. Mornings are even more stressful when you are not a “Morning Person”

Apparently every woman in my life is not a morning person…except my Mother, she is a morning person and that is, undoubtedly where I got my zest for early rising.

My typical routine during the work week is to go to the convenience store on the way to work to grab a Rockstar and some type of protein bar or shake. This morning was no different…I was primed to imbibe my usual morning sundries, was standing in line after carefully selecting my breakfast from the nearly empty refrigerator section and snatching the last Detour protein bar. I quickly assessed the situation and climate of the line; a growing, writhing snake wrapping around the store. Assuming the culprit was the patron at the counter, I peered around the tallish gentleman in front of me wearing an Affliction-type shirt emblazoned with winged helmets, winged daggers driven through winged skulls set in front of a winged cross….and saw a guy checking out.

This guy was apparently embracing the notion that black is slimming, by wearing a black XXL t-shirt and at least XL black shorts and….his ear buds. EAR BUDS. Conducting business with a cashier at 7:30 in the morning with a growing line of disgruntled people behind him…he could not have a lapse in his music intake, by removing his ear buds to conduct his business.

What was Yeesus imparting to this dude that made it imperative to not break his connection with “N*ggas in Paris” to buy his morning Yoohoo and sausage muffin?

This does not even begin to scratch the surface of the epidemic of people/kids walking around WITH other people and wearing headphones/ear buds. I don’t get it. There is not any music I like enough to juggle listening to it and someone I’m with. What’s worse is there are throngs of kids meandering through the mall and other stores and all of them are plugged in with ONE ear bud.

“My friends are cool and all…but they can’t fill the place in my underactive brain that Katy Perry fills.”

Yeah.

I can’t imagine any artist or any form of music that has an immediate and profound enough effect on my psyche that I have to be plugged into it ALL OF THE TIME.

So there is my morning. Much love.
