What if they knew they were loved?

What an interesting thought. Having been a teenage girl not all that long ago, I can assure you that my spiritual practice and the love of those I was close to were both very important to me. Then again I am wildly atypical in several ways, so maybe I’m not representative.

But yes, worthiness is a huge issue for any teenage girl. We’re born into a culture that is hostile to our femaleness and we must deal with that every day. Add that to the hormones and the fact that there is no childlike innocence or adult grit and you have a very vulnerable person indeed. My practice made me feel strong, serene, and gave me more control of myself, which is critical if you feel the world judging you at every turn and you barely recognize your own reflection.
