In love with a writer

So you’re in love with a writer? You love coffee dates, afternoon walks, dogs, the sun and words. You love all them. You love charm, a beautiful and poised face, perfect eyebrows and an assuring smile. You love holding hands and kissing in the rain, teasing and laughing at corny jokes. That’s great!

What about the writer? Do you really love him or the idea of him?

The idea of smoking cigarettes at 5 am along with coffee to deal with anxiety that comes with the dawn of day? What about his trust issues? You still love them? What about his same old style? Old trousers, shirt and suspenders. How about how he doesn’t text back? How he ignores you even when you’re 5 feet apart?

You said you’re in love with a writer right? How he drinks whiskey everyday to keep his demons away and comes home drunk, how he doesn’t talk about how he feels…only writes them? I mean, he is a writer after all.

Are you still in love with a writer? How he gaslights you? How he cheats on you with every colored set of eyes that walks his way, how he can’t get a single writing job? Again I ask, are you still in love with a writer?

His corrupt mind doesn’t know anything other than darkness, evil. But again, he’s a writer. He’ll love you with every darkness in his heart. He’ll cherish you with his words and write poems about the real love of his life. “A hero will kill one he loves to save the world, but a villain will destroy the world to save the one he loves “ That’s a writer.

For those few moments he’ll love you, he’ll do it with his soul, his mind and body. He’ll look at you with fire in his eyes and a raging heart, a pounding heart, a blazing heart….standing next to the love of his life. He’ll love you with every darkness. He’ll love you in ways words can’t explain. Short and sweet. Yet, this is on the other side of your love for a writer. Again I ask, are you still in love with a writer?
