I would like to preface this by saying I am a cis white male, with an upper-middle class background. The fact that I feel the need to disclose that is what I feel was the point of your article, and for me, what made it so resonant.
I like to discuss feminism, and more generally, concepts which are historically, politically and socially interesting. I am both hindered and helped by this because of my aforementioned cis white male tag — something which I prefer not to use for reasons similar to your decision not to conform to some socially accepted title.
Onto what I see in this piece. I see you have grappled with the human reaction to anything, to compare it to one’s own experience. Every judgement I make is based on my experiences and my understanding of the world around me, and it is — in my view — the same for other people.
You highlighted a number of times that people rejected your views because you did not have access to their experiences, because you could not possibly understand. You also prefaced this article by giving yourself the title of transwoman, but you wrote something about the importance of the other side; what is not said.
It was this which really stood out to me, and as I said, what made it so resonant. Thank you for publishing such an incredibly profound and thought provoking piece.
