Regarding the call for “all the gay men”?

I believe this involves much more and effects more people (perhaps everyone) than that particular demographic. Also, you posted to the trans (as well as LGBT) sites so you must, even unconsciously, recognize the need for a larger comment pool. Ergo, I’ll toss my hat in the ring.

Personally, and in this I’m speaking from the standpoint of a veteran trans woman, I agree with you to some extent. Despite the fact that I went through all that red tape for the “F” on my license back in the 80’s (and I’m truly proud of the hurdles I’ve surmounted), I really don’t see the need for gender or sex on any ID (it’s nobody’s freakin’ business!), and I will go a step further…

the kids, and as a volunteer I really do know some, are defining themselves as non-binary and gender fluid… well, wtf do you put on their license?!

So… people. I guess I have your attention now. This thing should, in fact, be voted down for many reasons, but I believe the vote should also include an alternative; we become genderless on paper, but in reality (jails, safe houses, restrooms) the M/F archetype will prevail, and regarding gender expression… and I know I may get in trouble for this but; we become limitless. I believe this will free us of a lot of bs that we should have risen above long ago.

“But guys will still be able to follow us into the loo, and…” Girls? Really? Do what we’ve always done. If it’s a guy, confront him. If it’s a guy in a dress, well… we would still confront him, right?!! Fn right!

OK, so we won’t be so worried about the man in the dress any more than usual if this proposed law gets tossed, but won’t they just be able to call themselves some weird non-binary thing and get away with it? That’s what we’re really worried about, isn’t it? Let’s face it. Them being able to get away with it over some stupid law that they could and probably would take advantage of. Right? And if one gets away with it you can be sure as you’re reading this that they’ll be lining up… taking turns. fk!

So… genderless?

First off, there should be zero tolerance and zero possibility of a ‘trans’ defence (that is with the exception of trans women (or trans men in the gents’)… those who are actively pursuing transition; that, despite the fact that the burden of proof to determine guilt will remain with the state). Zero tolerance with extremely stiff penalties for perps. Worse than it already is for rapists, molesters, voyeurs and the like, and not discounting the possibility of neutering for the worst.

Now you can arrest me for I too, at a time before my bottom surgery, only went in the ladies’ room… was clocked twice (that I know of) and refused to leave on both occasions. Perhaps they saw the truth in my eyes — that I was no threat — a woman — and left me alone with no fuss. That said, I believe any woman has the right to confront anyone in what should be a woman’s safe place, right? But use some common sense, girls. I mean, if you start yelling at some big, burly, crew-cut sporting guy in a dress, and the big dyke turns around and clobbers you? Don’t say I didn’t warn you, k? Actually, you might get a date out of it.

Second? This whole curfuffle over being non-binary gender is a tempest in a teacup, although it does have the potential to change our society for the better. This I do believe because what these kids exemplify (and I call them kids because you very rarely see anyone identifying as non-binary or gender fluid who is over 25) is the fact that we are all so different, and we should embrace and treasure these differences for the expressions of our inner truths that they are.

Yes, while I’m teaching them, they teach me. It works out.

So I can’t sign your petition, or whatever it is, because I’m from Canada where we’ve even started a practice (in BC) for non-specified gender on birth records (genderless id). That could catch on, I believe.

How come we in the Colonies tend to think up and put into effect all this good stuff before the old world even considers it?
