Reaffirmation as a Designer through Interaction Design Foundation
Sometimes, it pays to have a name attached to you. Branding. It matters.
I come from a Software Development background — a Masters in Information and Technology. When I moved to UX (14 long years ago), I was “assigned” to UX Research — a role I absolutely, loved and embraced. I set up UX Lab, conducted 100+ Usability tests, Site visits, Ethnographic studies, and I wanted to know more. I moved to Interaction Design and everything was new. My intuition, self learning and curiosity helped but I always felt a bit of an outsider — no matter how right I could be — I craved for more — something definitive, something to show.
Interaction Design Foundation was my answer — I have tried many learning websites, and by far, Interaction Design Foundation is a class apart. It’s:
- Reputed — look at the people backing it up: Donald A. Norman, Daniel Rosenberg, Irene Au, Bill Buxton to name a few
- Economical — you can enroll in as many courses as you want — no limit
- Self paced — It is up-to you when you complete the course — no rush
- Gives direction — which courses are best suited for a certain Learning path
- Mix of Videos / Text , Subjective / Multiple choice answers
- Design Elite as mentors and course coordinators — It is the best of the best!
- A strong Design community — you have so many like minded people you can connect with locally and remotely
- References — Possibly, one of the best go to spot for looking up any design information — you can find it in the free resources, courses, or the community. It is that easy
- Not only this, you have access to worldwide conferences at your fingertips!
- You also get access to good discounts to new learning avenues and free webinars
It is truly a Design platform for the Designers — by the Designers.
Interaction Design Foundation has given a platform, association, and reaffirmation to the Designer in me. Thank you Interaction Design Foundation!
