Medium’s Personal Publications, and Publication Accounts

I think this topic opens a good discussion based on ownership and reach, two things every writer/creator strives to have. It resonates with me because I also have a publication I created for a series of short stories. They share a common theme which grounds them to one topic and it makes it easy track.

The feeling I had when I created it was to have control over my work, which would keep it consistent and coherent in that one place. I also get that it doesn’t guarantee having the reach that I want for it but I couldn’t trade it for losing the control I see for it.

This is a common debate that arises on many cases were creators and writers are involved. You either choose to have your work be featured by a successful publication, get more clicks and likes and exposure (while having to lose control over your work) or you could be comfortable with your work having less exposure and be content with the response it has under your control.

Looking forward to seeing how Medium would responds to this. Seems like a great conversation on how content and creators are treated and having to fix their profiles so they feature more of their work.
