Being A Nigga Vs Pretending to be White in A Black Body

There’s nothing like being black and proud of it! Your piece shows this quite eloquently. It highlights one of the many problems our society faces from being judgmental and forcing kids into paths that may hinder their future. I’m also fortunate enough to have a mother that sees the best in me and always pushes to bring this out, while fighting to secure a better future for her son. She’s been so influential in the way I was brought up that I don’t know what I’d have been without her.

I saw the same thing when you mentioned how your mother tried all she could to distance you from Brandon, and I think she did the right thing. It’s not always the case with every parent but for those that do, it creates a much better world for their kids. Kudos for writing this!
