Australia Computer Society

The Ministry of Immigration has designated the Australian Computer Society (ACS) as the approved accessing authority to locate competent engineers who are prepared to immigrate to Australia as qualified ICT professionals.

The primary objective of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) is to identify candidates in the ICT sectors who, through skill evaluation, possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to relocate to Australia as highly qualified ICT professionals. Applicants who lack appropriate ICT background or who are not graduates of ICT programs take this ACS Skill Assessment Test. ACS will request that those candidates prepare RPL reports in accordance with their supplied guidelines.

RPL reports have to be filled out in the field using the ANZSCO code that they choose. Candidates need to select the appropriate ANZSCO code that corresponds to their qualification.

Eligible Criteria for ACS Skill Assessment

Different qualifying requirements apply based on your educational background and professional experience.

1. Temporary Graduates
Candidates with a major in information and communications technology and a bachelor’s degree or above in a field closely connected to your chosen field. In this field, work experience is not a prerequisite.

2. Post Australian Study Skills Assessment
Candidates with a major in information and communications technology and a bachelor’s degree or above in a field closely connected to your chosen field. Candidates must also have finished the ACS Professional Year Program or have post-1 year work experience.

3. General Skill Assessment
Applicants may apply for a general skill evaluation provided they are employed and possess a postsecondary ICT qualification.

3.1 ICT Major
In order to meet the requirements, candidates with a bachelor’s degree or above and a degree closely related to the nominated occupation must demonstrate that they have either four years of relevant work experience completed at any point in their previous work history or two years of relevant work experience completed within the last ten years.

In order to meet the requirements, candidates with a bachelor’s degree or above whose degree is unrelated to the chosen occupation must demonstrate four years of relevant work experience that they have completed at any point in their previous employment history.

In order to meet the requirements, candidates who have completed an associate’s, advanced, or diploma program and are closely related to your nominated occupation must have completed five years of relevant work experience within the last ten years or six years of relevant work experience completed at any point during their previous employment history.

In order to meet the requirements, candidates who have completed their associate’s, advanced, or diploma program and do not directly connect to the occupation you have picked must have six years of relevant work experience accomplished at any point in their previous employment history.

3.2 ICT Minor
In order to meet the requirements, candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher and a degree closely related to their chosen occupation must have completed five years of relevant work experience within the last ten years or six years of relevant work experience completed at any point during their previous employment history.

In order to meet the requirements, candidates with a bachelor’s degree or above who do not directly relate to your specified occupation must have completed six years of relevant work experience at any point in their past.

4. Recognition Prior Learning
In order to meet the requirements, candidates with post-secondary qualifications who do not possess an ICT degree or who have not completed six years of relevant work experience at any point in their work history must also submit the highest caliber RPL report.

In order to achieve the requirements, candidates without a recognized tertiary qualification must submit a top-notch RPL application together with eight years of work experience.
