Job analysis is used to develop salary levels and ranges for jobs within an organization. There can be as few as three levels or hundreds of levels in an organizations compensation plan. For each level there is a minimum — midpoint and maximum pay range. The levels determine the experience levels and credentials for a candidate. For example, 1 = no experience to level 7 = excellent experience. Within each level there is a pay range which allows for room to place employees based on performance, ability to be promoted, rank, etc.
Using the form below determine the compensation treatment (level and salary range) for the following employees. Then explain your rational for your decision.
Employee 1: Employee 2: Employee 3:
Been in job for 5 years low level 3. New to company Senior employee currently at mid point level 5.
Average performer College graduate (MBA) No degree or interest in getting one
Attending college Minority female Above average performer
Good team member No experience Not a good team worker
