Quiet Mistakes
The opportunity of error
Newsflash! I am not perfect and neither are you. But it’s okay—we are both good people, so we do the best we can to create change and live to our full potential. But sooner or later one of us or both of us (most likely both of us) will falter … fail … Due to imperfection, we are going to make mistakes. However, there are misconceptions about these errors we make. They are not problems they are opportunities.
When a mistake is made, there is a window of time where we are allowed to pivot and go in any direction. The next move is key. Outburst, cover-ups, excuses, apologies, and explanations are a few among the many choices we can make to address the situation. I believe that this choice is crucial. Mistakes draw attention and bring added focus to any situation. The next step is loud because it has an alert audience that is ready to take action based on what happens next. A lifetime of information can be learned from how we respond to our own errors. Choose wisely.
