The point is that they made an effort NOT to inform the costumers who paid $70 to buy their app on August 10th that “hey btw the app you just bought is going to be taken off app store TOMORROW and become an archive.”

“I can understand that if you’ve paid up front you might be cross, but… if you paid recently, you get a year’s free.”

I can’t imagine why you think it’s fair to be told AFTERWARDS that the $70 you paid is going to last you only for a year. Have you ever bought a car and be told the next day that support and repair for your car is discontinued but you get to rent another new car from them and start paying rental in a year…?
