Ventilation

Rain and window deflectors: I bought rain and wind deflectors. I figure that the cargo van comes with front windows, so one might as well use them as free vents. They won’t have screens in them, ever, but seems like the quickest way to get vents for this first winter and spring. I bought them from from EuroCampers. They look like this.

Wind and Rain Deflectors = cheap and immediate vent source

The windows seem to be sticking a bit thus far, so I’m not so sure that we’re really going to keep them, to my possible dismay… we will see how they’re doing after a couple of heating and cooling cycles if they’ll settle in better. Update: They seem to be settling in better.

Maxxair MaxxFan 7500K 12v Fan Vent w/12" Blade, Rain Shield & Remote: We bought a Maxxfann over anything else because it can be run in the rain… and we learned in the truck and trailer that that’s really when you want it most… when the humidity is 100%. We’re leaning towards putting it over the forward kitchen, but still trying to think through what this does to the roof plan.

Layout considerations: If the MaxxFan goes forward, than we need a vent in the back, it seems, in order to prevent a dead air circulation zone back there. I don’t know if a 6" mushroom ventilator back there does a whole lot to the layout.

Turbokool.com: I am still really interested in installing an evaporative cooler. The brand I’ve identified as a candidate can be viewed at http://www.turbokool.com/.

I’m still not sure how one would go about optimizing the arrangement of 2–4 panels, a MaxxFan, a mushroom ventilator, and a Turbokool unit.

The Turbokool works as a fan. I wonder if it might just make sense to delete the ventilator, put the MaxxFann in the back, and put the Turbokool in the front.

  • 1 Maxxair MaxxFan 7500K 12v Fan Vent w/12" Blade, Rain Shield & Remote placed over the forward kitchen
  • One smaller fan or vent in the back right over the bathroom?
