What is a ransomware and how does it work watch in this video. Ransomware is a type of malware that threatens to publish the victim’s personal information or permanently block access to data unless a ransom is paid.

Simple ransomware usually locks the system in a way which is not difficult for a competent person to reverse, but more advanced malware uses a technique called cryptoviral extortion, which encrypts the user’s files and makes them inaccessible, and then a ransom payment is demanded to decrypt them.

In a cryptoviral extortion attack, recovering the files without the decryption key becomes a problem and moreover cryptocurrency used for the ransoms makes tracing and prosecuting the perpetrators difficult.
According to statistics the use of ransomware scams starting from around 2012 has grown internationally. Be careful and protect your personal information
