Amazingly Clever MODERN KITCHEN DESIGN
I always thought the “Modern” meant the latest, but when it comes to decor “Modern” refers to a specific design style from mid 20thcentury. Modern design is a style of decor that focuses on minimalism, neutral colors, clean design lines and environmentally-friendly materials.
Less is More: An integral element of Modern design is Minimalism or “less is more” approach to designing a space. This means there are no superfluous details such as columns, patterned tile shapes, materials with multiple colors or excessive use of textiles.

Clean Straight Lines: Most components of modern design, from the furniture to the shape of the rooms, includes clean, straight lines with no intricate detailing which is the exact opposite of earlier design styles which used heavy textures, carvings and wooden tones. Modern design’s lines are crisper, sharper and very spare.
Tips: It is always a good idea to add a certain amount of wood to a sleek interior. An unadorned, glossy kitchen may look ‘cold’, but with a wood floor or island, some wooden shelves, it looks inviting and warm.
Lack of Clutter: In modern design “A lack of clutter” refers to no knick-knacks, vases, pottery, collections or excessive use of throw pillows, rugs or blankets. All the beauty comes from the natural characteristics in a material, such as the horizontal grain of oak when it’s rift cut or the natural beauty and veining of marble. Any necessary items, electronics and are kept either out of sight inside a closet, or are built into the home with built in shelves.

Use of Metal: Chrome and stainless steel make up a big part of modern design. Doing away with traditional metal details (like wrought iron) opens up the door for clean, polished metals to be used in their place. Polished chrome has a very high shine and a slightly blue undertone.
Tips: In modern kitchens you’ll most often see C-channel hardware that’s integrated into the cabinet, as well as tubular pulls or flat linear pulls.
Bold Accent Colors: The majority of homes decorated in modern styles use neutral colors and shades of black and white exclusively throughout the home. Bold, often primary colours are used as accents to help break up the neutrals and provide focal points. These colors are often introduced sparingly, and rarely used as an all-over wall color.
