Here is a use case you didn’t even mention. I run a full non-mining node with txindex=on, addressindex=1, spentindex=1; currently I have 1376 electrum clients and over 60 bitcoin nodes connected to this box on a 1gig static ip internet connection on a well connected co-located machine. (and yes I’m burning bandwidth pushing out historical block chains to folk)
Because I am a non-mining full node is my use case such a bad idea? I currently support a 32MB block size on my node (and would happily go higher).
I say that in my use case my non-mining full node is very useful. This use case for full nodes DOES help the general bitcoin ecosystem.
I am not a payment provider or do I have any other use case you mentioned.
