7 Different Learning Styles

MySchoolPage’s extensive selection of tutors understand that each student learns effectively in different ways; this is why our program curates a personalized learning experience for every student who uses our services. Utilizing the theory of 7 different learning styles, we are able to analyze the needs of each individual student to build a program that works for them. The theory for educational learning styles was developed by highly noted educational psychologists to better the learning experiences of students in schools across the nation. Dive into these learning styles below:
● Visual (spatial): You prefer using pictures, images, and spatial understanding
● Aural (auditory-musical): You prefer using sound and music.
● Verbal (linguistic): You prefer using words, both in speech and writing.
● Physical (kinesthetic): You prefer using your body, hands, and sense of touch.
● Logical (mathematical): You prefer using logic, reasoning, and systems.
● Social (interpersonal): You prefer to learn in groups or with other people.
● Solitary (intrapersonal): You prefer to work alone and use self-study.

Often, educators prefer using this method to better the learning experience for each student by varying their courses to fit different styles. However, a study conducted by IOP Material Sciences’ and Mechanical Engineering’s H Awang illustrated that this concept wasn’t nuanced enough in its description of best practices for students. H Awang dictates that this assertion of instructing according to the best learning style per student and teaching exclusively per that style is ineffective. In their research study, test groups found the best practice for teaching students is to run several courses according to the nature of the subject, rather than pigeonhole students into specific categories and teach them under one method for all subjects.
Examining the nature of each subject is key, for example, mathematical learning is best traditionally taught with spatial/visual and logical learning styles under the assumption that the student learns using all 5 senses. Auditory may not be effective on students even if it is their preferred style, because those who have been taught in traditional school settings may find it easier to absorb mathematical knowledge according to the prior methods. It is imperative for the instructors to best understand the student’s most preferred style to lead them to success.

The world is full of a variety of different minds with unique tastes; MySchoolPage recognizes
this, because our tutoring programs cater to all types of students with all abilities. By utilizing these styles, we can better guide a student’s qualitative and quantitative improvement across all subjects and fields, and help nurture the current generation of youth’s aptitudes for learning to successfully achieve their goals.
