How to properly vet a web 3 game.
Hey, there are somethings I would like to get off my chest. First, I would like to state that I love the space of Web 3 and the Technolgy of cryptocurrencies. I am not a fan of Crypto tokens but just a select few. Now that I’ve put that statement out let’s get into the problem I have with this space. This space is filled with scammers, and I will be the first to say that the scammers aren’t the ones destroying the space. What’s destroying this space is greed, greed from all sides. The “investors”, and the scammers, are at fault with why web 3 and any sector is falling apart outside of the attacks from the media.
The state Web 3 is in is unhealthy and especially in a bear market we should not be focus on price action and gambling which is why I put quote marks around investors because majority of the people that are investing in web 3 aren’t real investors, they are gamblers. Everyone that the people who would disagree with this space calls the gambler “investors” Moon bros. I laugh at that and agree with the term but what’s ironic is the moon bros haven’t lifted off for the moon yet. To fix this space a few things have to happen, the first one is we have to leave the casino phase of web 3 where people do not care about what they are “investing” in they only care about flipping it and making a profit. If you are a gambler and reading this article, I would like to ask you this, would you go to a poker table and gamble your money away without knowing how to play poker? If you answer is no, then I am sorry to tell you that’s exactly what you are doing within this space.
Last to wrap this point up, for you newcomers please understand to get rich in this space you must find a solid project and find it when it is small. Shameless plug like ours we are a small project right now that will not fall victim to greed and fraudulent activity, we will do everything organically, no buying bots, no buying engagement. We want people to actually engage with our product and community so we will build slowly to get the audience we deserve. Now as a solo dev that released two playable demos that will tie directly into our main title “metaverse” I will love to break down a few things for you to look at and maybe I can save you from being rugged and leaving this space with a bad taste in your mouth from a bad apple you have come across and it’s a lot of them so beware.
Things to look for in web 3 gaming projects how do you know if they are a scam or if they can or will deliver?
Well, let’s start this section with logic. As being a part of the game designer and game developer community, I would like to share a secret with you guys. Most devs and game designers do not know how crypto works or what web 3 is. Why is that something to wrap your mind around? Well, if majority of us devs do not know anything about a new space and so many projects are coming out saying they are making metaverse games. How is it possible when majority of devs aren’t skilled in the space yet? Who are you going to hire?
What these projects are doing are hiring people off of Fivver and pocketing the rest of the money that the community has given them. Another thing to look at is, game development. It is like putting a movie together, I will repeat that for you in caps, GAME DEVELOPMENT IS LIKE PUTTING A MOVIE TOGETHER. So, do you actually think these people with no background in this space can actually just make a video game? These are things to think about while I get into how to vet web 3 games.
Now how do you vet a web 3 game? I will start by saying that these web 3 games are clear scams but through an uneducated eye you wouldn’t be able to tell.
First point if a project does not have a GDD, there will not be a game released, there is no direction to the game there is no gameplay loop. So, ask for a GDD instead of a whitepaper, whitepapers are what getting people rugged. These projects can put anything and better yet copy another Project’s white paper. What can’t you copy is of another project’s GDD unless you are stealing their game. Then that project has a lawsuit on their hands so ask for the GDD vs the Whitepaper. Well, what is a GDD you may ask? A GDD is a game design document, game design documents is what we game designers/Developers use to actual understand what we are building. The GDD is one of the first things you must do before you create a game because without this document the project will not have a direction. Can you build a project without one? Yes, but this is found in solo devs and as a solo dev I use one.
The GDD will tell you everything, the story, the why, the gameplay loop, how the project will make money, if the game is even a good idea, the characters if there are any, the world, the levels, the world that is being built.
Now put this next to a whitepaper on the tokenomics of a project wouldn’t a GDD tell you if the project is worth investing/backing? Trust me, asking a project lead in an ama can you see the projects GDD. Majority of the time the person answering question probably won’t even know what you are talking about, and that will tell you everything about the project. I can end this article right there and save people money. But of course, there are more things to spot out a scam.
Walking trailers/videos
If the first video of the web 3 game is a game where the character is just walking through levels, no interaction, no enemies attacking them, they aren’t attacking enemies, jumping or climbing platforms, showing a quest, nothing of a game then you are being scammed I will show you how easy it is to make that video/trailer to excite you guys. Behold, the next biggest metaverse.
The sad thing it took me longer to upload the video than to make the video showing you how these projects scam you. This is how easy it is to get people excited in this space and take their money. I as a lead of my community I do not believe in this, and I believe that web 3 gaming can give power back to the gamers. So, we choose to do everything with legitimacy. I will give you a contrast on what you should be looking for, now as a solo dev, I do not have the budget or time to put out the trailers that are coming into the future, but I still put something together that shows that we have actual games that are being built from the ground up.
Before you compare our type of trailers together, I want you to also understand. These three games are being built by myself; I do not have a team. Two of these games have demos out and will be updated through development. Game development do not need a large team anymore, most great games that came out in 2022 were made by one developer. So, if you are a “investor” that looks at teams? Try a different approach, look for what is produced not the team behind the project because those people are still people who once worked for a company and now have a chance to become millionaires by stealing from the community which is being done.
Now majority of these projects have no results, have teams and funding. Now this is what a solo dev, a person who is really working and trying to make a difference in web 3 gaming produced on his own.

Now that you guys see that and the difference, we have three more things to look for. one of them are simply ask for gameplay and gameplay loops. Please stop investing in ideas and walking trailers. Ask them for a prototype of the game or a demo if they do not have that, it’s a huge chance in the web 3 space it’s a scam. You have been warned.
Next if the project talks more about the money, you can make vs how the game will turn out, it either going to be a very bad game or they aren’t planning on producing a game. Remember “Investors” for a project/company to work it has to have customers, if you are the investor, then who is the customer? If the game isn’t fun to play trust me the game won’t have any customers so, make sure you look at everything that is listed here. If they do not have the above things, then trust me it will not attract the right market, and this was the main focus I focused on. The gamers because those are the ones who will play the game and make the investors' money.
Last thing but not the least of things which is use case. Why do you want to use this thing? Why would a gamer stop playing web 2 games to play yours? I know your “investors” are wondering do you guys have a token? Yes, we do but it is some way connected to the game and not at the sametime. We have our own social media that is used in the universe of Myths Story Of Abraxas. Both games Hidn Backrooms and Myths Will have this phone system where they will be able to use the games social media on it and earn Hidn Credits which is like Reddit’s karma that can be converted to any of the platform tokens. That’s right key holders of level 3 or higher will be able to create their own token on the platform which we make sure the community of that token is protected. Also tokens with values can be used in both titles Hidn Backrooms and Myths.
This is another strange thing about these projects they have tokens they themselves don’t even accept which should tell you something. Tokens on the Hidn Verse platform is like gaming premium currency that can be exchanged back into other tokens. The biggest use case of Hidn verse is we made it and building it for other projects to be able to build their web 3 business on the platform where their community will know they are protected and safe. What is our project about? Making this space safe and making great games and when you look at other projects, please put it next to ours I want you to know everything you see here from the websites to the trailers to the editing to the game dev to the GDD to even typing this is all being done by one person. is it perfect? Far from it and I will soon be getting help, as we grow, I will get help. But I will stay a small studio just to show these other projects that a small studio did what these other guys couldn’t. As a solo dev I already did more than majority of the metaverses you see today. We are looking for people to see the project and see what we are bringing to the table than make the choice to invest. We are looking forward to a partnership with Polygon which will help with funding, so selling digital assets and tokens will be a plus for us and the digital assets actually work as what they are assets.
Myths Story OF Abraxas, Hidn Backrooms, and Ready Controller one isn’t played to earn games they are games where your digital assets can make you money for example if you own a gas station in Myths story Of Abraxas and a player come and buy gas then the owner made money. How play to earn should be. We plan to be the first game in this space to do it right and be the blueprint for how this space should turn out. I guess my biggest mission is to get consumers to actually start using the tech of crypto instead of being lead with hype about tech they have no clue what it is for or how to use it. The only thing investors have to do with majority of these project is just to buy and sell and we want to bring a change to that in the gaming sector.
