Dos and Don’ts for your camping trip
Sleeping under the stars, and escaping the urban chaos from time to time keeps many of us sane in our monotonous world. But going for a camp isn’t always as simple as it sounds. Imagine all the planning it takes to select the right camping gear and campground in the first place!
So, before your next great, outdoor rendezvous, here are some pointers that will definitely come in handy.
Pack all the camping essentials- Your go-to items that you should be absolutely packing for your camping trip are a first-aid kit, compass and maps, and emergency equipment. It may seem like a great idea to ditch these important but absolutely boring basics, especially when you are trying to reduce the weight of your backpack. But trust me, soon after some inconvenience during the trail, you will be searching for the bug spray or the roll of gauze you just left behind.
Follow fire safety protocol- Of course, you know the importance of fire safety in a forest. Fire safety protocol is absolutely mandatory to keep you and your natural surroundings protected from a fast-moving fire. Make sure you don’t pile on the firewood to build a small and controllable fire. Also be careful to let the fire burn to completely before turning in for the night.
Don’t limit your meal variety- You don’t need to feed on ready-meals while you are out exploring yourself. You are better than that. With some easy recipes and the right equipment, you can conjure up a lot of simple yet tasty meals. Try out scrambled eggs and pancakes in a cast iron skillet, and prepare fish (best if it’s freshly caught) steamed with potatoes and some vegetables in a foil packet.
Don’t leave food unattended- Make sure to tidy up your campsite before going for a hike or going to sleep. Check for posted signs or ask the camp ranger or campground attendant about proper food safety so that you don’t have to deal with any unwanted animal encounters.
Minimize your eco-footprint- Being with nature is so relaxing, isn’t it? So, it’s also your responsibility to keep it safe and protected. One of the ways you can help is by returning with everything you came, which definitely includes your trash.
