1. Calico Museum of Textiles

One of the foremost and finest textile museums in the world, Calico Museum of Textiles is also a celebrated institute in the Indian textile industry. It is located in the city of Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat in western India. The museum is managed by the Sarabhai Foundation. The textiles include court textiles used by the Mughals, regional embroideries, tie-dye textiles and religious textiles. The Calico collection along with those of Sarabhai Foundation’s collection of outstanding Bronzes, Pichwais, Jain art objects and Indian miniature paintings are housed at the Retreat complex of the Sarabhai Foundation in the Shahibag area of the city. Both the Calico Museum and the Sarabhai Foundation have major collections and an extensive program of publications.

Opening, Closing Time 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm on all days of the week, except Wednesdays. Entry is restricted after 11 am.

Entrance Fee Entry is restricted to 30 visitors. The first 15 can visit on a first-come-first-served basis and the remaining as a part of a group booking.

2. Sabarmati Ashram

Sabarmati Ashram is also known as Gandhi Ashram, Harijan Ashram, or Satyagraha Ashram. It is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Gandhi stayed at the Ashram from 1915 to 1933 later in the Ashram was disbanded. The Ashram is a witness to many important historical events. The ashram houses a museum, library, auditorium and photo galleries. An important feature of the Ashram is Gandhi Sangrahalaya, a museum inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru on May 10,1963. The museum exhibits the life of Mahatma Gandhi. There are plenty of books in the library that will give you a valuable insight into the life history of Mahatma Gandhi. The Sabarmati ashram receives about 700,000 visitors a year whose needs have to be catered for. It remains open for visitors every day of the year from 8.00.am to 7.00.pm

3. Kankaria Lake

Kankaria Lake is the biggest lake in Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat, India. Kankaria Lake was built by Sultan Qutbuddin in the 15th century. There are so many places to visit and enjoy. 5. Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid, also known as Jami or Jumma Mosque, is the most splendid mosque in Ahmedabad, built in 1424 during the reign of Ahmed Shah I. The mosque is situated outside Bhadra Fort area, along the south side of the road extending from Teen Darwaza to Manek Chowk. It is built with yellow sandstone, the mosque complex is centered on a large rectangular courtyard 75 m long and 66 m wide.The prayer room is also rectangular and covered by four domes. Some of the central domes are carved like lotus flowers, closely related to the typical domes of Jain temples; and some of the pillars are carved in the form of a bell hanging on a chain, in reference to the bells that often hang in Hindu temples. On one of the innermost windows there is even a carving of an ‘Om’ symbol. The architecture of this mosque is a blend of Hindu and Muslim styling. Jama Masjid lies in the heart of the old city. There are different entrances to the mosque. The strong structure of this mosque has been able to withstand the pressure exerted by heat and rough weather.

6.Teen Darwaza

Teen Darwaza is a historical gateway on the east of Bhadra Fort, Ahmedabad, India. Completed in 1415, it is associated with historical as well as legendary events. Teen Darwaza is one of the longest as well as the oldest gateways of the Ahmedabad city. It was established in the year 1411 A.D. by Sultan Ahmed Shah, who founded the city of Ahmedabad. Teen Darwaza has been intricately carved. The walls and pillars of Teen Darwaza are beautifully designed. The windows of this fabulous monument are semicircular and adorned using mesh work. The central window depicts the tree of life. Five palm trees are shown that are covered with snakes.
