I’m appreciative that people are trying to make this world less shit by ridding it of these monsters who prey on children, but I’m skeptical about the progress that’s actually been made in Cambodia. I visited in 2014 and was offered children on the street while I was trying to just walk home in Phnom Phen. Also our tour guide for a wild life refuge pointed out a slum where you could ‘buy’ children for no reason. It seems to continue to be a terrible problem.
You see these evil looking men touching homeless children and watching children at the playground. It was really creepy. The corruption is so rampant though that you feel like you can’t report anything or else the cops are going to shake you down. After getting shaken down 3 times by the cops in one day, you don’t think to call them when you see a problem.
It seems to me that this article’s rosy outlook does a disservice to the many children that are continuing to be victims at the hands of Western predators on a daily basis still.
