What I Think About When I Think on the Days the World Makes Sense

A WHAT, WHY, HOW, and WHEN that makes sense today, but may not tomorrow…

WHAT if instead of shaming those who dislike, troll, and tweet toxicity behind cryptic usernames we double downed on compassion? I’m not saying we condone the hate given life by feverish fingers, but that we understand, just for a moment, their words say everything about them and nothing about you. Think about it: The world must have done a real number on someone more invested in the TRYING, DOING, CREATING, and LIVING of others than the idleness of their one and only lives. What if we suspended our own pain and instead recognized theirs?

WHY do we insist on being right rather than focusing on what’s right? Why not instead assume we’re the dumbest person in the room, intent on illuminating every ignorant molecule in our bodies? Maybe that would invite others to stop clinging to bad ideas and give them the courage to search for better ones.

HOW do we find the questions that lead to better lives? Here’s one thought: Instead of asking ourselves first thing in the morning, ‘What do I need to get done today?’ what if we asked, ‘Who can I help today?’

WHEN will we realize most of life is noise? That there’s actually very few things worth our time? That we simply don’t live long enough to chase the wrong signals?
