When you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, it is very important for you to grow in Christ Jesus. When you accept Jesus, you are babe in Christ. You need to take small steps and you must grow.

I remember when I accepted Jesus at the age of 15 yeas. I was very passionate to grow and learn more about Christ.

Here are 5 ways to grow in Christ:

1- Read the Word of God

It is very important that once you are saved, you have to spend time reading the word of God. Since life is very fast now and everyone is so busy in their own life. We often forgot to read the word of God, which is very essential for our growth.

When I accepted Jesus, I was so passionate to learn more and more about God and also how I can get closer to God with the passage of time.

Hebrews 4:12New International Version (NIV)

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

2. Set a side time for prayer

I have been struggling in that area especially setting a side a specific time. Prayer is the key to unlock the heavenly blessing. Prayer gives you right to give direct interaction to God. It is necessary for new believer to set a specific time to pray with ceasing. Prayer bring growth in everyone life.

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (ESV)

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

3- Connect to a Local Church

Local church bring significant role in the growth of a new believer. In western culture everyone is so busy in their own life, sometime folks decide to have church at home by watching someone on TV. Its ok but in this way you really don’t grow faster. When you connect to local church, you have accountability. You serve and love each other in a local church.

Hebrews 10:24–25 (NIV)

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

4-Memerize scripture

You might say this is hard but not really. I am from Pakistan which predominantly Muslim country. I know most of you hear bad things about Muslim folks but one that they do I admire them is that they send their kids to place or school when they are 7 years or older. Within 3 to 4 years they memorize the whole Quran, which are almost 30books from start to end.

I think we don’t have any lame excuse to not doing it.

You can set and goal to memorize one scripture a day for next 30days. And keep doing it.

When we know the scripture, we will be able to bring it remembrance when we needed the most. One the best example is Jesus in the gospel when Satan attacks him.

Colossians 3:16New International Version (NIV)

16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

5- Find a Mentor

I always have someone over me who is more experience and mature Christ follower. A person who can guide you and give an advice when you need one.

If you don’t have one find one and keep yourself straight.

Proverbs 1:5New International Version (NIV)

5 Let the wise listen and add to their learning,

And let the discerning get guidance —
